When the weather is not conducive to sailing or the boat is in winter storage, Captain Jim operates Captain Fix-It Handyman Services. Jim is a retired Industrial Arts teacher, having taught in the Berea and Cuyahoga Falls public school districts. He has taught home-maintenance and repair, small-engine repair, welding, cabinet making, blueprint-reading, and a host of other related subjects during his teaching career. Jim retired in 2000, and started sharing his home-maintenance skills with customers in the Akron area in 2002, after bicycling across the United State to fulfill a long-anticipated urge since working toward and receiving his Bicycling Merit Badge in the Boys Scouts. Captain Fix-It, Jim, now lives in Marblehead and is serving the Marblehead, Catawba, and Port Clinton area.

A short list of the skills he has includes, but is not limited to, the following:

Ceramic-tile replacement both, floor and wall; minor plumbing repair -- disposal installation, fixture replacement, valve leak repair, etc.; installation of interior window and door trim; deck repair; small electrical repair -- switches, outlets, dimmers, lighting installation; hanging shelving and works of art; shelving construction; gutter-guard installation; by-pass and bi-fold door repair and adjustment; drywall repair, as well as a host other things. Ask, and I'll let you know.

Prices are reasonable for the different tasks. I have customers who can give you comments about the quality of my work. I look forward to "Keeping your land home on an even keel."
